Our Missions In Mexico

The Memorial Presbyterian Church of Assumption has a very active Mission agenda in the country of Mexico.  Three unique but interrelated mission activities are supported by our Assumption Illinois Church Family:

Intercambio Cultural De Maya Cultural Exchange with the Maya Intercambio annually coordinates 2 trips for North Americans to the Yucatan region of Mexico.  The post-Christmas trip travels to rural villages and conducts the multiple projects of: Free Medical and Dental Clinics Health Eduction Building construction.   The summer version of Intercambio focuses the group on the construction of a building in a more urban area.  The Memorial Presbyterian Church of Assumption has supported Intercambio with both mission funds and volunteers as well.  Six members of the Assumption Congregation have traveled with Intercambio and participated on both the Medical and Construction Projects.

Yucatan Presbyterian Ministries The Memorial Presbyterian Church is a financial sponsor of Yucatan Presbyterian Ministries (YPM).  YPM, headed by Ramon Celis, conducts multiple missions in the Yucatan region of Mexico, including a low-income Hospital and a Group Home for Children in Cancun.  Ramon is also one of the key individuals behind the Mexican portion of Intercambio.

Down Syndrome School Tuitions The Assumption Church family also supports the tuition for one student at the Downs Syndrome School in Merida Mexico.  Through donations of coins accepted during the weekly offering, the Church has been able to pay for one students annual expenses.
